Safe Horizons is a campus-based prevention and education program at Longwood University, founded by Longwood alumna Dana Phillips, CHES. The program is designed to educate, support, and empower students in addressing intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual misconduct.

Through engaging, trauma-informed content and peer-driven dialogue, Safe Horizons provides students with the tools and knowledge to recognize, prevent, and respond to IPV and sexual misconduct.

Sessions include:

  • Interactive workshops
  • Guest speakers and expert presentations
  • Survivor testimonies and shared experiences
  • Discussions about healthy relationships and consent
  • Guidance on bystander intervention
  • Information about campus and community support resources

Program Structure and Schedule

Safe Horizons is a four-week workshop series that meets once a week. The program runs during:

  • October and April
  • Monday evenings from 7 - 8 p.m.
  • Location: Allen Hall, Room 101

The sessions are open to all Longwood students and offer a safe, inclusive space for learning and open conversation about relationship health and personal safety.
