Construction Phase

The cultural and educational contributions of the Longwood Music Department to the university, community, and region are hard to measure – concerts, performances, guest artists, and a burgeoning community program.  The Music Department is currently housed in Wygal Hall, built nearly 50 years ago and sadly outdated.  This new home for students and performers will be situated along the east side of the central campus, easily accessible from Brock Commons and Main Street.  In addition to a large performance venue, the new building will also provide classrooms and other learning spaces for the more than 600 students who are now taught each year in Wygal Hall.  Construction commenced in October 2025 and is expected to be completed in mid-2028

Landscaped walkways, trees, and small groups of people surround the structure. Additional campus buildings and green lawns appear in the background under a blue sky.
