Rebecca Brusseau is an Assistant Professor in the Education and Counseling Department of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services and the Co-Academic Program Coordinator for the Elementary and Elementary/Middle School programs. She holds a Ph.D. from George Mason University, a M.Ed. from Marymount University, and a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College. Prior to arriving at Longwood University, she was a K-6 educator for over 12 years and taught multiple grades in both public and independent schools. As a K-6 educator she served as team lead and mentor teacher, as well as helping to develop curriculum guides for the district. During her time at GMU she was part of a curriculum-writing team that won multiple awards from the National Association for Gifted Children. Her research interests include in-service teacher professional learning, critical reflection, critical pedagogy, narrative inquiry, and sociocultural contexts of education.
