How to Apply to Longwood’s Call Me MiSTER Program

Call Me MISTER Application Process

To be considered for Longwood University’s Call Me MiSTER program, you must first apply for admission to Longwood University and be accepted.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must major in an undergraduate program that leads to teacher  certification in Virginia. Eligible majors include:

  • Elementary Education
  • Elementary/Middle Education
  • English
  • Math
  • History
  • Art
  • Music
  • Theater
  • Modern Languages
  • Health & Physical Education
  • Special Education
  • English Language Learners
  • Teaching English as a Second Language

Call Me MiSTER Application Process

Once accepted to Longwood, you will need to submit the following materials by March 21, 2025, for admission into the Fall 2025 cohort:

  1. Call Me MiSTER Application
  2. Unofficial Transcript
  3. Activity Résumé – Include community service hours, recognitions, and awards.
  4. Essays:
    • 500 words answering: Why do I want to teach?
    • 250 words answering: How will you contribute to the Call Me MiSTER Program and its community?
  5. Two Letters of Recommendation:
    • One from a teacher, counselor, or principal (for incoming freshmen) OR a professor or advisor (for current Longwood students) who can speak to your academic abilities.
    • One from a person of your choice who can speak to your involvement in the community.

Interviews

After submitting your application materials, selected applicants will be invited for an interview. The interview will assess your potential for teaching, your motivations for joining the program, and provide an opportunity to clarify any details from your application.

Application Deadline

Applications for Fall 2025 will be accepted until Friday, March 21, 2025.
